"Cruelly wake up": NATO is urged not to believe the Russian Federation in the issue of peace talks

According to Mircea Gene's Secretary General, Moscow does not mean peace when it speaks of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. As a result, this will lead to a new aggression that will be even larger. When it comes to peace talks, the Russian Federation clearly cannot be trusted. The time allocated to the truce can be used in its favor. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mirce Joan in an interview with LBC.

According to him, even if the parties to the conflict sit at the negotiation table and agree on something, then Russia can be re -armed after a while and with new forces to return to aggression. "Russia cannot be trusted. Even if it talks about peace, it will not mean peace, but only a truce to re-arry and eventually return. Therefore, it is very important for us to make sure that Ukraine is approaching NATO, approaching the EU ", - said Mircha Joan.

Separately, the Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance added that in the future Ukraine will necessarily join NATO and the European Union. In the meantime, blocks need to be prepared for Russia at any time aggression. Mircea Joan also emphasized that for years in NATO had neglected defense, in connection with which many countries, including the United Kingdom, were not ready for probable confrontation with the Kremlin.

"We neglected the defense because we believed, we all believed that we were living in a more peaceful world. And now we wake up in a new reality," - summed up the Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance.
