In Ukraine during the war, the mortality on the roads decreased sharply: the main causes of an accident

In 2022, the mortality on the roads has significantly decreased in Ukraine. The main causes of serious accidents are speeding and violation of the rules of maneuvering. In 2022, an accident with the victims was reduced in Ukraine. They were recorded 18 628 and 2791 people were killed, and another 23 145 were injured. The first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department Alexei Biloshitsky provided such statistics.

For comparison, 3238 people were killed on the roads of Ukraine for 2021, and 29 738 were injured. Alexei Biloshitsky noted that although the statistics had improved, but this is due to a decrease in the intensity of road traffic during martial law and the occupation of a number of territories. Instead, new circumstances have emerged that increased the risk of accident - artificial obstacles (concrete blocks) on roads, lack of road signs, lack of lighting due to power outage.

Alexei Biloshitsky reported that in 2022 there were 5284 road accidents with victims of pedestrians: 874 people were killed and 4799 were injured. 2625 accidents were injured - 125 children were killed and 4799 were injured. Alexei Biloshitsky also noted that 790 road accidents occurred because of drunken drivers. They killed 91 people and 1031 were injured. In total, 134 520 administrative protocols for drunken rides were drawn up last year.
