Mosquito Laser: Chinese gadget knocks 30 insects per second like aircraft drones

To spread: a gadget called Photon Matrix is a prototype of the first "air defense" from mosquitoes capable of identifying and neutralizing mosquitoes using LIDAR high -precision technology. The device inventor Jim Wong from Changou (China) posted his offer on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform, InterestingenGineering. com writes. According to Jim, the gadget will not harm people and pets and is safe for use in the room and outdoors.

Although the use of mosquito lasers may seem too futuristic, the threat posed by these insects is huge. Mosquito is the cause of more than one hundred thousand deaths every year. Malaria, Denge, Chicungunya and encephalitis are some of the diseases that are carried out by different types of mosquitoes, and one small bite is enough for the disease to transmit to humans.

According to Indiegogo information, the base version of Photon Matrix has a waterproof structure and can be easily installed anywhere. The device can be powered by a simple external battery or from a portable power plant to install outdoors, such as on a lawn or backyard. The device has a 3 m radius for the base version and 6 m for the version "About". Both versions have a 90 -degree scan angle. The basic version is offered for $ 468 (price for early buyers), and "About" available for $ 668.

The gadget uses the module of detection and determination of light range (Lidar) to determine the location of objects in its environment. Lidar's light is returned to the device, which then calculates the location and distance to the mosquito. The inventor claims that the device is able to detect the mosquito in just three milliseconds. Just as the mosquito got into the field of view, the second laser beam is directed to him to kill him.

Moreover, it also scans the environment to identify larger objects such as humans, pets, cars, so as not to shoot in their direction. Photon Matrix can detect objects flying at a maximum speed of 1 m per second. Therefore, the flies will not be deadly, unless they fly very slowly. However, mosquitoes usually fly much slower than flies, and they will be easily affected by laser rays produced by the device.
