Archaeologists at the University of Wroclaw, including Maciej Trzesetsky, believe that these items were probably stored in an outbuilding that once belonged to the 8th German Battalion of Communication, stationed in the city during the Nazi occupation.
"They are found in a very good condition and are arranged in order, indicating that they were not used in battle, but probably during the exercises," Trzesetsky said. The finding time is also symbolic: it coincides with the 80th anniversary of the end of the siege of Wroclaw. In 1945, Hitler declared the city with a fortress, which led to a destructive three -month siege, which ended shortly before the surrender of Germany.
