Lithuania also confirmed the plans for the placement of anti -personnel and anti -tank mines along the borders with Russia and Belarus, taking the Polish model as a basis. According to Lithuanian Defense Minister, the Baltic States coordinated actions with Poland and Finland, seeking to integrate border defense systems into a single infrastructure.
The Eastern Shield, launched in May 2024, provides for the creation of a defense infrastructure along the 700-kilometer border with Belarus and Russia. The project budget is estimated at 10 billion PLN (about $ 2. 5 billion) and the completion of works is scheduled for 2028. The main elements of the program include: the first fortifications have already been completed in the Dombravki area (Varmina-Masurian Voivodeship) at the border with the Kaliningrad region.
