The drone production plant in the special economic zone "Alabuga" in Tatarstan for 2024 produced more than 6 thousand "Shahaned" and thousands of drones. From January to September last year, this enterprise produced just over 5,000 UAVs, and in the last quarter production has slowed down significantly. ISW believes that the Russian Federation is difficult to supply sufficient materials to maintain high -rates of Shahmed production.
Russia, either, is still relied on Iran in terms of supplies of drones for drones, or tries to buy high -tech components, bypassing Western sanctions. The Russian defense-industrial base can prioritize the production of false drones to overload the Ukrainian air defense system instead of focusing on the more expensive shock drones "Shahaned". We will remind, recently it became known how many Russians launched drones in Ukraine in the first 2 months of 2025.
