Early cereals were harvested from an area of 6 531 thousand hectares, and the yield was 44 quintals per hectare (c/ha): we recall that with the beginning of the start of a full -scale invasion of Russia, a larger share of Ukrainian grain began to be exported through the land border with Poland. However, the product, which was to go through the neighboring country in transit, settled in local markets, which led local farmers to losses.
Therefore, the heads of governments of Poland and Romania have appealed to the European Commission to introduce a mechanism for tracking exports of Ukrainian grain to minimize illegal trade in their territory. In May 2023, the European Commission launched a ban on the import of Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds to Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria. The restrictions are expected to be valid until September 15.
