Russia wants "unconditional" negotiations with Ukraine: Kyiv says Moscow is "not in that position"

Russian diplomats believe that the dialogue should take into account the situation on the front. The formula of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is unchanged: the complete cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of the invaders and the restoration of territorial integrity. Russia declares its readiness with Ukraine "without prior conditions".

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Hrushko during a press conference, writes the agency "RIA Novosti". The Russian Federation does not accept the previous conditions of Kiev to start negotiations, this concerns the withdrawal of Russian troops, the official said. According to Hrushko, the current situation at the front should be taken into account in the dialogue. "Such conditions are unacceptable.

Our president has repeatedly spoken of readiness for negotiations, but these negotiations, of course, should take into account the situation on the ground," the Deputy Minister stressed. In his opinion, Moscow does not observe the diplomatic efforts of France and Austria to restore the negotiations of Russia and Ukraine. The speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko emphasizes the inability of the Kremlin to dictate the conditions for negotiations with Ukraine.

"Russia is not in the position to dictate its conditions. The peaceful formula of Ukraine remains unchanged: the immediate termination of the war, the withdrawal of all Russian troops, the restoration of Ukrainian territorial integrity, compensation for damage caused and providing effective guarantees on the inadmissibility of repetition of aggression," he wrote. In other conditions, it will be impossible to reach a stable world, Nikolenko stressed.

It should be reminded that the head of the parliamentary faction of the "servant of the people" David Arahamia assumed the possibility of restoring negotiations with Russia in the second half of 2023. Presidential races in the United States are beginning to start. Moscow has recently declared a desire to finish the war in Ukraine. According to the Kremlin Prescriber Dmitry Peskov, the Russian Federation has not noticed changes in Kyiv's position on negotiations with Moscow.
