Hacker attack on Kyivstar is the largest in world history: expert opinions

Analysts have compared the cyberattack case for Kyivstar with the cases of world operators from France, Japan, Canada, Australia. The Ukrainian company was most affected. Cyberatics on communication operators happened earlier, but in the case of Kyivstar, the largest of them occurred. This conclusion was reached by analysts of "Business Telegraph", which compared the breakdown of various international companies with the breakdown of the Ukrainian operator.

According to the media, 60% of the population of Ukraine - 24 million people use the services of Kyivstar. However, the authors of the article believe that not all 24 million clients are left without communication, as many citizens of the country are in parallel with subscribers of other companies - Lifecell and Vodafone. For example, the French mobile operator Orange, which once belonged to France Telecom, was injured in a hacker attack in July 2012.

At that time, 26 million clients (40% of the France's population) were without communication within 9 hours. Despite the fact that the problems were quickly removed (for example, "Kyivstar" did not cope in a day and, according to some reports, the restoration of networks should wait a week), the scandal was loud. They also mentioned the case of the Australian company Optus, which was cyberatized in 2022 and again in November this year.

It is also used by 40% of the population - 10 million, as well as some financial institutions, hospitals, and large companies. It took about 14 hours to employees the operator to "lift" the network. The Canadian Rogers Communications, attacked in the summer of 2022, did not escape the hacker attack. At that time, 12 million Canadians (30% of the population) expected to restore the services of 19 hours.

The economic sector of the country was also injured at the hands of cybercrime, since, according to local analysts, Canada has suffered losses of $ 142 million in Canadian. Not only ordinary citizens but also representatives of different businesses were injured from the lack of communication. The Japanese Kiddi operator is also a participant in this anti -rating.
