More than 900 a day: military cemeteries have increased in the Russian Federation against the background of war in Ukraine - media (photo)

The British officer Peter Irom said that an increase in the number of graves in the cemeteries shows that Russian mobilized pays a huge price for modest territorial "acquisition" of the Russian Federation. In satellite images you can see how strongly the Russian military cemeteries have grown against the background of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. About it writes the edition of The Telegraph.

According to journalists, from the beginning of the invasion in February 2022, the cemeteries related to elite units, such as the Guards Airborne Division, the Guards Motorized Division and the Wagner PEC have increased significantly in size. This can be seen in Maxar Technologies satellite photos. For example, in one section of the Tula cemetery, the number of graves increased approximately four times in the period from October 2021 to April 2023.

In addition, a completely new area was added to the Bogorod Cemetery, located nearby. She, apparently, has tripled. The publication writes that these cemeteries are related to the 106th Guards Airborne Division. Her soldiers participated in Bakhmut battles. Former British Army intelligence officer and NATO planning specialist, Colonel Philip Ingrem called these images "impressive". According to him, they show a huge price that the Russian mobilized.

"I am not surprised by the obvious growth of cemeteries near the bases, as Russia is currently losing more than 900 servicemen a day for minimal territorial acquisitions," he said. Journalists noted that according to the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, the losses of the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine are about 70 thousand people killed. However, in the US, this figure can reach 120,000 killed.

"The reality for the Russians is such that the increase in the size of these cemeteries does not fully reflect the true number of dead Russians," Ingrem said. According to him, the bodies of many killed invaders remain on the battlefield. The publication noted that the Bakyn and Berezov Cemetery, which are related to the Wagner PEC, expanded significantly since February 2022. It is believed that up to 21,000 Wagner fighters has been killed since the beginning of the war.
