But in real combat, everything does not always happen according to the fire management scheme. Drones are not always enough, and poorly trained gunners do not always know how to use radars. The appearance of Himars forced the Russians to act differently.

In the second year of the war, the Russian artillery battle chain became more flexible, according to analysts Jack Wotling and Nick Reynolds from the Royal Institute of Armed Forces in London. More units received the Red-10 drones. Some artillery batteries have their own drones, and they do not depend on adjacent connections to obtain target data. "The time of artillery fire in these systems is small-about three to five minutes," Reynolds and Wotling noted.

But this is not enough to catch up with the fast Himars. During the recent and, apparently, the unsuccessful counter -battery hunt, Ukrainian Himars saved his speed. "But it is worth going to the question of why the starting unit was generally under the long supervision of drones. Where was the air defense of Ukraine?" - the authors of the publication note. Many Ukrainian missile units are accompanied by protection with portable launchers of the Earth-Air class.

If Himars has been such a security during the recent case, it did not pay attention to the Russian drone, according to Forbes analysts. It should be reminded that Ukrainian Himars destroyed the fifth in two weeks of SCR "Buk-M1-2". During the intelligence, the operators of the 3rd SCO regiment noticed the starting unit and the 9C36 detection and target.
