In Istanbul, Volodymyr Zelenskyy got acquainted with the construction of corvettes for the Navy of Ukraine and met with Ukrainian military military

During his working visit to the Turkish Republic, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited shipbuilding shipyards, where Corvets are being built for the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with the Strategy of Development of the Navy of the Armed Forces by 2036. The head of state got acquainted with the degree of readiness and equipment of the corvette "Ivan Mazepa", its technical characteristics and opportunities.

This ADA Protetic Corvette should be the future flagship of the Ukrainian Navy. On the ship, the President met and communicated with the military personnel of the Ukrainian Navy, who are undergoing courses in operation and maintenance of the systems of this ship. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked them for their service. “Thank you for the service, for being very respectful here. You know what we expect you in Ukraine. To be even more powerful, our security and defense forces, ”the Head of State said.

The President presented two military medals of the "Defender of the Fatherland", who were awarded for selfless actions, revealed in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, exemplary military duty. Volodymyr Zelensky also got acquainted with the course of construction of the Corvette of the ADA class, which today the Presidential Decree was named Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky and which should also strengthen our Navy.

The head of the Ukrainian state expressed gratitude to all those involved for being built by such warships. "It is extremely grateful for the partnership of Turkish President Erdogan and all defense companies of Turkey and Ukraine, which create such a powerful result on the return of peace for Ukraine," he said. ADA-type corvettes are modern coastal ships that have the capabilities of prototic operations and outdoor patrols with widespread use in the design of stealth technology principles.

The concept of design and combat use of ADA Corvette is similar to the concept of Freedom's liter ships designed by Lockheed Martin for the US Navy. ADA type corvettes have more powerful weapons, more powerful radar and sonar systems. The construction of Ivan Mazepa Corvette was started in April 2021. In September 2023, a ceremony of bookmarking of the ship took place.
