Beat missiles will become easier: Kronos Super Radar will strengthen air defense systems

Kronos Grand Mobile HP identifies threats within 300 km and resistant to the HR. They are planned to be installed on SAMP/T NG complexes. Radar system Kronos Grand Mobile HP from the Italian company Leonardo has successfully passed several factory test tests. At the Paris Aircraft in 2023, it was presented in the version to equip SAMP/T NG air defense system, reports the EDR portal.

The new radar of the Kronos Grand Mobile HP is a highly productive multifunctional sensor designed to counteract any type of air and rocket threats, while guaranteeing high tactical mobility and rapid strategic deployment-in just 15 minutes. The Kronos GM HP radar uses the possibility of horizontal and vertical control of its antenna with an active grille with electronic scanning (AESA), which performs 60 "shots" for a minute.

As the creators expect, technology will improve the detection, tracking, identification of threats and missiles for several goals. Combined antenna control and signal processing ensure high accuracy even in severe obstacles. The stated range in air defense mode is more than 250 km, the observation mode is more than 300 km, and the height - up to 30 km.

Kronos Grand Mobile HP is able to withstand enemy electronic means because it is able to control radiation (EMCON), to detect obstacles, to automatically choose the last muted frequency, has a mode of extinguishing side petals, as well as Track On Jammer and Burn Trough. Kronos Grand Mobile HP can perform the function of accompaniment within 1 second after the first detection of the target. The system is also capable of tracking up to 500 goals immediately and simultaneously aimed at 30 of them.

The radar module can be installed on the Astra/IDV military truck for greater mobility. The Italian army will receive new radars in 2026. The SAMP/T complex has been in operation in many countries around the world for more than 20 years, but now it has been upgraded and has received NG (New Generation). The updated system will have six combat units that can run eight Aster missiles at the same time to intercept the enemy ballistic missiles.

Earlier, Focus said that Turkey introduced the mobile system of the HR - MERT EA. The military will be able to easily transfer compact equipment to the battlefield or install it on transport to suppress the enemy even in motion. The China's army demonstrated its latest radio electronic struggle system, a data tracking station and the RCT195b obstacle. This ETB system is designed to target the enemy data and is equipped with a logoperiodic dipole antenna (LPDA) with a surplus band (UWB).
