Bypassing sanctions: China and Russia help the DPRK to expand its military potential - the Pentagon

The Ministers of Defense of 17 countries that are part of the UN Command have stated that countries that support the DPRK in the event of its aggression will be severely punished from the international community. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that the UN member states that ensure a truce in the Korean War, concerned about Russia and China, which help the DPRK to increase their military potential bypassing international sanctions. This was reported on November 14 by Reuters.

"We are deeply concerned that China and Russia are helping the DPRK to increase their potential, allowing it to bypass the sanctions of the UN Security Council. We are also concerned about the growth 17 countries in the UN (UNC) command. It is also reported that South Korea and the UN command in a joint statement emphasized the illegality of Pyongyang nuclear and missile program and warned of the inadmissibility of aggressive actions against the Republic of Korea.

"If the countries that supported North Korea during the Korean War will try to assist again, then these countries will also be severely punished from the international community with the DPRK," the statement reads. At the same time, this statement sounded against Pyongyang's statements regarding the UN command. On November 13, the DPRK said that the UNC is an instrument of the United States for confrontation, an illegal military organization and has nothing to do with the UN.

North Korea also called for the unk to dissolve the UNC to prevent the start of a new war on the Korean Peninsula. In response, South Korea, the United States and other UN member states agreed to expand the scale of exercises without rejecting the dialogue as a path to peace on the peninsula.
