"Hungarians and Bulgarians defend Ukraine": Ombudsman told whether they violate the language law in the Armed Forces

Representatives of different national communities are fighting in hot spots, and for many of them Ukrainian is not native language. Each soldier decides in what language he will speak in trenches or in the battle with hostile troops, said the focus of the state language commissioner Taras Kremin. Representatives of different national communities are protected from occupiers with weapons in their hands.

All these people are the Ukrainian people and citizens of this country, said the focus of the state language protection Taras Kremin. For the whole of 2023 there was no complaint about the violation of language law by Ukrainian servicemen. There was only a report on the use of non -state language in one of the military enlistment offices, but this problem was already solved, Kremin says. There are no grounds for violations of language law in the Armed Forces.

And in what language the military communicates during lunch, in trenches or in the battle with hostile troops, this is their personal business, Kremin emphasizes. "There are representatives of national communities. For example, many boys and girls from Transcarpathia serve in the 128th Brigade. For them, their mother tongue is Hungarian. The boys also serve from the Odessa region, who are originally ethnic Bulgarians. But all this is Ukrainian and our people Countries, "the Ombudsman explained.

It should be noted that Article 15 of the Law "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State" regulates the use of the state language in the Armed Forces and other military formations. According to the document, the Ukrainian language is the language of normative acts, documentation, paperwork, teams, training, educational measures, other statutory communication and official activity in the Armed Forces and other military formations created in accordance with the law.
