Will be launched rockets: YFQ-42A drones will work with aircraft

Extend: US Air Force in collaboration with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (Ga-ASI) began a flight test of the next generation of the next generation of YFQ-42A. The main task of YFQ-42A is to accompany manned military aircraft. The new drone is planned to equip the air-air-air rockets capable of destroying other planes, according to the GA-ASI press release. The company said that the software with artificial intelligence (AI) allows YFQ-42A to act semi-independently with manned fighters.

According to the developers, the support in the form of drones will give military pilots a significant advantage in future battles. According to GA-ASI, the aircraft was built and raised in the air a little more than a year. In April 2024, the US Air Force elected GA-ASI to develop a UAV-downs. In March, the US Air Force marked the aircraft as YFQ-42A, where "Y" means a serial sample of the aircraft ("Y" will be removed after production), "F" means a fighter, and "Q"-an unmanned aircraft.

Previously, various UAV systems YFQ-42A have already undergone ground tests. At the end of the flying tests of the US Air Force, they plan to buy more than 1000 such drones. "I congratulate the Air Force for their vision, as well as our developers team for making another historic breakthrough for our company," said Ga-ASI resident David R. Alexander.
