"The war will accelerate the gender progress." Tolerance, stereotypes and war with the eyes of 1039 Ukrainian teenagers

Participants and veterans of war, women and LGBTI+ community. These three categories of Ukrainian society should gain more than previously support in terms of equal rights and opportunities. This opinion was expressed by 1039 Ukrainian teenagers from all (even temporarily occupied) regions of Ukraine, which were interviewed online for the level of inclusiveness of our country, discriminatory, gender stereotypes and readiness to advocate minority rights during August 2022.

This slice was carried out as part of a campaign to counteract the gender stereotypes of Nomoregringe in the web of thickening network, which is implemented after the aftermath of the EU for Gender Equality: Together against Gender Stereotypes and Gender-Injured Violence, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Union.

Video Day Sexism Sexism (this is when deeds, character traits, professions are divided into male and female, or if you behave not like a "real" man or "real" woman - you have a biased attitude), eijism (this is when it is when You are deprived of possibilities because you are too young/and for something, or no longer pretty vigorous/a), Lukism (this is when you look like, causes you to attitude) and homophobia (as confidence that heterosexuality is the only one Possible norm and "do not display their same -sex relationships") - top types of discriminatory behavior that are most commonly found in teenagers in Ukraine.

Often gender prejudices, or sexism, encounters teenagers at home from parents and grandparents. However, a more inclusive environment for Ukrainian teenagers, despite the challenges of war, still remains a house and family. And in general, their assessment of the level of inclusiveness of Ukrainian society is quite optimistic: 79. 4% of young Ukrainians and Ukrainian women are assessed at home at the level of "good" and "excellent". At school, this rating is reduced to 41.

6% (that is, for less than half of students and students in the school environment is safe and can be "good" and "excellent"). 56. 3% of respondents believe that Ukrainian society gradually steps to greater tolerance (against 37. 3% who think the opposite). It is interesting that 81. 3% of teenagers (which is 23. 1% more than last year) consider important progress of society in the field of human rights, non -discrimination and movement to greater tolerance. Equally interesting is the fact that 40.

4% of Ukrainian youth interviewed are already showing an active position in counteracting discrimination, prejudice, and oppression. While only 5. 9% of representatives/this group are opposed to tolerant progress. Interestingly, according to 28. 8% of Ukrainian youth, the war will accelerate gender progress. 46. 7% of this community believe that in 50 years gender equality in Ukraine will be a reality.

The severity of the experience of war, at the discretion of representatives/this generation, do not depend on the sex. Instead of PS "Dear Defenders and Defenders". It is with the beginning of the invasion of Russia that our president, the Minister of Defense and the Commander -in -Chief no longer appeal to Ukrainians because of the use of exclusively masculine kind. Probably not only because more than 25% of the Armed Forces - women, their visibility has increased significantly.

After all, a women's contribution to different fronts in the future victory is becoming more apparent. And it seems, despite "not on time", it all works to reduce the gender gap in Ukraine. However, despite the above progress, and despite the emergence of a great number of prehizinistic folklore, the number of gender stereotypes did not reduce the war.

"Our volunteers find everything so quickly, can we ask them to find you a man?" "War - Male" "did not go to the military enlistment office, the Armed Forces, the Terrobon - not a man" "women go into the army to find a good man" and the same "they kill our women and children".

And why do men fall out? Who said it is natural and their lives are less valuable? When we asked teenagers "what grade would you give Ukraine for its level of inclusiveness?" (Inclusivity - culture and relationships in which people with different identities feel that they are respected and listened to them. It is about accepting and respecting people, allowing each person to be themselves. : 17. 6% for excellent, 34. 1% for good and 27. 1% on satisfactory.
