This is stated in the report of the Institute of War Study (ISW) for February 15. The official message of the department stated that the data presented on the map of hostilities indicate the offensive of Russian troops on the southern outskirts of the Avdiivsky Coke Plant in the northwest of Avdiivka, as well as the capture Donetsk. ISW refers to recent geolocal data that indicate that Russian troops cut the last road from Avdiivka, which was used for logistics purposes.
However, a representative of the Tavriya troops Dmitry Likhova stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently successfully using prepared secondary land communication lines to supply Ukrainian forces in the southern and eastern parts of the city.
"Russian bloggers claim that Russian troops have advanced west of the city, trying to cut the ground roads used for the logistical needs of the Armed Forces from the villages of Lastochkin and North, although ISW has not seen any confirmation of this advancement of the Russians," the report reads.
Likhov admitted that Ukrainian troops retreat from some positions near Avdiivka, but he stressed that defenders continue to actively resist the Russian forces, reflecting their attacks on separate positions in the "gray zone". Separate units of brigades were relocated to Avdiivka, where they actively counterattact the positions of Russian troops inside the city.
