In Russia, the use of "combat" balloons: how they will complicate the Armed Forces launch drones

With the help of inflatable means and radars installed on them, the army of the Russian Federation can better track and destroy the UAVs, the Russian expert said. The Russian army began to apply near the border with Ukraine in the Rostov region of balloons with installed blocks of radar stations to combat drones. About it reports the edition "MK", which interviewed the military expert Yuri Knutov.

According to the media, the use of balloons was noticed in the war zone in Ukraine, as well as in the Rostov region, as written by several Russian Telegram channels, the reliability of this information can not be verified. According to a military expert, the production of balloons with radar systems will be much cheaper than the construction of expensive radar stations with special hydraulic lifting devices.

They can be equipped with wireless communication systems, and even use a cable that transmits information to reduce the structure. Of course, the balloon is quite vulnerable, but if you place it at least 30 kilometers from the border and make a shell made of durable material, then, according to Knutov, it will protect the apparatus from shelling from the Armed Forces.

The expert notes that in the army of the Russian Federation there are whole units that are engaged in balloons, but they are not yet widely used in hostilities. According to Yuri Knutov, such devices have been used for a long time, since the USSR and have proven efficiency, as well as cheap use. Air radars can work without human participation and transmit all the necessary information. If the equipment fails, then a crew of repairmen can quickly and inexpensive problems.

The Russian expert believes that on the border with Ukraine it is necessary to launch more balloons with the radar, which will allow as far as possible to identify low -high goals, including drones, and destroy them at a greater range. Poland, according to him, is already actively unfolding balloons from the radar along the borders of Belarus and Kaliningrad. The Army of Israel is also used by the balloons to track missile launches from the Gaza Sector.
