Ukrainians under the leadership of the Russian Federation tried to set fire to the office of "New Post" in Bucharest: what is known about it

Share: In Bucharest, Romanian special services prevented an attempt to set fire to the office of the Nova Poshta company, organized with the participation of two Ukrainian citizens under the leadership of Russian special services. Thanks to the coordination of national and international partners, the sabotage operation was neutralized before it could cause damage.

According to the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), between October 14 and 15, 2025, two Ukrainians arrived in Romania from Poland and tried to deliver two parcels with hidden remote-controlled incendiary devices to the head office of Nova Poshta. One of the devices was hidden in headphones, the other in car parts, both equipped with a GPS tracking module.

Intelligence, together with national law enforcement agencies and international partners, quickly identified dangerous packages and neutralized them in safe conditions, eliminating the risk of explosion or arson. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects operated in a complex scheme, using thermite and barium nitrate, as well as using self-defense techniques typical of professional sabotage operations.

The obtained data indicate that they belong to a wider network controlled by the Russian special services. In general, intelligence reports indicate that the attempt to set fire to the Novaya Poshta office was part of a large-scale operation against the infrastructure of the company, one of the largest private courier services of Ukraine operating in Europe. At this time, the investigation is ongoing with the participation of judicial authorities, the police and the national security services.

It is worth noting that on October 21, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the Internal Security Agency, together with other services, conducted an operation against a group of people who were preparing sabotage on the territory of the country. According to RMF24, the Mazovia branch of the National Prosecutor's Office is investigating the activities of Russian special services against Poland and EU allies. Within the framework of this investigation, Ukrainian citizen Danylo G.

acted on the instructions of the Russian special services and prepared acts of sabotage, including the transportation of cargoes with explosives and incendiary materials through Poland and Romania to Ukraine. The purpose of these actions was to intimidate the population and destabilize the European countries supporting Ukraine. In Romania, two more citizens of Ukraine are under arrest for 30 days for this case, and the Polish court chose to keep Danylo G. in custody for three months.

We will remind that this month in Poland, the indictment against the Russian oppositionist Ihor R. and his wife Iryna R. , who are accused of espionage and preparation of a terrorist attack on Polish territory, was handed over for trial. In particular, one of the participants in the case was previously associated with well-known Russian opposition figures.
