The Yle Finnish edition writes that the prosecutor demanded a sentence of at least 2. 5 years in prison for Captain Davita Vadachkori and his assistants Robert Egizaran and Santush Kumar Chauasia. The fact that the Finnish court does not have a jurisdiction to hear the case, the defense of the accused emphasized. The court now rejected the criminal accusations against the crew of Eagle S.
The court decided that since the incident occurred in the economic zone of Finland, but not in its territorial waters, the case should be considered by the country of origin of seafarers, or the state under which the vessel was gone (Cook Islands). Now the sailors are no longer in Finland - the nine -month prohibition on departure was canceled on September 12, when the trial in the Helsinki District Court ended. The case has been considered in court since the end of August 2025.
It continues to testify several witnesses, as well as written evidence. Finland National Criminal Police have been investigating the incident for about 6 months. Eagle S shadow fleet tanker was detained by Finnish Border Guard on December 25, 2024 on suspicion of damage to the sea cable of Estlink 2 electricity transmission between Finland and Estonia.
