The First Lady of Ukraine and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain discussed efforts to reunite Ukrainian families separated by Russia

In Kyiv, the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain Yvette Cooper. Olena Zelenska thanked Great Britain for participating in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.

"We appreciate that Great Britain actively supports international efforts within the framework of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, providing diplomatic, legal, humanitarian and informational assistance, as well as providing critical support for the search for abducted children and data verification," the first lady said. Olena Zelenska and Yvette Cooper met Yulia, a mother of two sons who survived imprisonment in the temporarily occupied territories.

The woman was accused of alleged espionage and forced to sign a confession, otherwise they threatened to send the children to a boarding school. It was possible to free Yulia only after two years of captivity - in October 2022, during a large exchange. In two months, the woman was able to reunite with her children already in Kyiv. "On the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion that ruined the lives of so many Ukrainians, thousands of children and parents are still being held in Russia.
