Due to Russian aggression: Romania Parliament approved the creation of NATO combat group in the country

The combat group will be created under the leadership of France. A unit from Northern Macedonia will be placed on the territory of the state. The House of Representatives and the Senate of Romania supported the creation of a combat group of the North Atlantic Alliance in the territory of the country led by France. Agerpres reports about it. According to this decision, 309 people voted for this decision, five votes were opposed.

The relevant proposal to the Romanian Parliament was made by President of the country Klaus Johannis. The head of state, in particular, believes that the creation of NATO combat group in Romania will increase the defense potential of the Alliance, strengthen the strategic partnership with France, and also improve relations with Belgium and the Netherlands.

In his address to the deputies, Johannis also recalled that after the invasion of Russia in Ukraine at the NATO Extraordinary Summit in Brussels, a decision was made to create such combat groups in Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. Mediafax, for its part, writes that units from Northern Macedonia will be included in the country. We will remind, the European Union, together with NATO, will present a declaration with a call to Russia to end the war and withdraw troops from Ukraine.
