Missiles manufacturer for NASAMS air defense systems creates a company in Ukraine: what is known

To extend: Director of NASAMS Eyrik, Director of the manufacturer, Eyrik Lee announced the launch of mass production of missiles on the territory of Ukraine on the basis of Ukrainian technologies. The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace is working on the establishment of NASAMS ammunition production in Ukraine.

The president of Euractiv Euractiv President of NASAMS, which is used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the demand for defense equipment is increasing, so new global supply chains need to be used to see Euractiv. "We are now establishing a company in Ukraine. We are in close talks with the industry of Ukraine to create a joint venture," said Eirik Lee. According to him, the company aims to increase the production of missiles for NASAMS by Ukrainian technology.

Joint businesses plan to create for several months. "It is about mass production of missiles, that is, hundreds," the company director said. When asked about the dangers of business in Ukraine and the risks that the Russian Federation can regard such a step as escalation, Lee replied that security is important, but its company seeks to use the opportunities of the Ukrainian industry.

"In the long run, when the war is over, Ukraine may become part of a rocket supply chain for air defense systems," he said. He added that there is now a surge in innovation in Ukraine, and it is important for his company to be part of this process. NASAMS NASAMS Nasams is designed jointly by Norway and the United States. It can intercept air targets up to 40 km away and up to 16 km in height, used to damage the cruise missiles, aircraft, and rifles.

The battery of the complex consists of three platoons capable of releasing 6 missiles. Thanks to the latest radar and modern rockets, it is able to work automatically without the participation of personnel. In addition, NASAMS is compatible with other Western SCRs. In April 2024, the media wrote that the Norwegian company finalized the NASAMS SCR to intercept ballistics, in particular plans to equip the Amraam-ER system.
