Shahaneda's drones will not replace machine guns: air defense explained why they would not give up MVG

To spread: mobile firing groups with machine guns have become less effective in the fight against "Shahaned", but Ukrainian air defense cannot completely abandon them in favor of drones-interceptors or other means. Under certain conditions, pickups with machine guns will again become relevant. In an interview with Focus, the Air Defense officer told how MVGs now work and improve, which rescue Ukrainian cities and infrastructure during mass attacks by Russians. Unjust.

Where is the guarantee that Shakhda will not return to the tactics of flights in small and extremely small heights tomorrow? There is no guarantee. There should be a comprehensive approach. It is impossible to say that we give up everything from MVG, because they are already inappropriate, and we use only UAV units. This, we can say, the kind of troops, they will continue to fulfill their tasks. They have experience, weapons, results.

I consider them inappropriate, because they are still evolving and applied, adapted to the current conditions of air combat. Undoubtedly, they need to be improved, looking for options for increasing their efficiency at different heights. For example, there are already thermal imaging complexes that allow you to identify the target in good weather conditions at a distance of about 2-3 km.

I constantly communicate with the guys from mobile fire groups and personally see how they try to knock down the target for 1. 5-2 km. Mobile fire groups are needed. They are not only against Shahid and winged missiles. Tomorrows, the Russians will seize 100 helicopters and want to plant somewhere a landing. The first to meet them will be mobile fire groups. Most of all depends on the training and experience of the machine gunner, the arrogant shooter, that is, the person who directly shoots.

Over the last year, the calculations of mobile fire groups have evolved quite strongly. I will tell you that already illuminating lasers, and spotlights go back to the past, because the equipment of mobile fire groups or night vision devices is already high enough. Many guys knock out "Shahda" thanks to thermal units without even turning on the spotlights. Why were spotlights? Because they were cheaper than thermal imagers.

With the calculations of mobile firing groups, training is constantly conducted using modern simulators. All this gives its result, mobile fire groups keep their share of the affected air goals. Of course, the Shakhda changed tactics by climbing 2000-3000 meters, but mobile fire groups are not silent, they still fight to the last. MSRC is used when Shahaned is clearly coming to a combat course on the object of the impact. It is like the last border of defense, when otherwise.

They are not cheap and are not so many, so we try to protect them and use machine guns as much as possible. The air defense forces are trying to constantly build the fight in such a way as to attract mobile fire groups as much as possible so that the missiles are used last. Because it is necessary to fight "Shahmed" either machine guns or drone on the drone.

Yes, there are problems, there are misunderstandings, but they are not as critical as it may want someone to show to create excitement in society. I will not say that the process has stirred in the firmness of a particular chief or group of chiefs. There are really objective reasons: staff, training, choice of airborne control tools. But work goes, as in all directions, it takes a little time and understanding of how to use it all right and effectively.

First there will be 5 calculations, then 20 calculations, then 50, then 100, then this experience will be transmitted to others. In different ways, but we go to the sole purpose - to stable to destroy "Shahidi" on the approaches to our cities with high efficiency. In the first part of this interview, the air defense officer explained why Ukraine still does not massively destroy Shahhada with drones-interceptors.
