German Minister of Economy Robert Habek said that Russian gas molecules can fall into the system, but this happens solely through the purchase of LNG on the world market. The German government supports Sweden's idea of ​​imposing sanctions against Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). It is a complete embargo on the EU. This was stated by Vicecanzler, German Economy Minister Robert Habek by DW.

According to him, the proposal is relevant for the 14th package of sanctions, which is expected, the European Commission will present next week. "Yes, I support this. Germany is no longer needed LNG from Russia, we have no longer and we have contracts for its supply," he said. According to the minister, Russian gas molecules can fall into the system, but this happens exclusively through the purchase of LNG in the world market.

The German official said that Germany was able to get rid of infrastructure dependence on Russian pipeline gas. If Germany succeeded, then it will be possible for other Member States of the European Union. They can follow the example of Germany. "What has been able to do with Germany for gas should be possible for other countries in other areas of energy," the minister said. According to journalists, he referred not only to Russian LNG, but also for fuel for nuclear power plants.

The material states that the Russian Federation currently ranks second after the United States in terms of Supplies of LNG to the European Union. Yes, Russia's share in total import is 16%. Last year, according to KPler estimates, the Russian Federation sells 15. 5 million tons of LNG. This figure is almost 40% higher than the same in 2021. Earlier, the media reported that the April revenue of the Russian Federation from the sale of oil and gas is doubled, despite sanctions.
