According to three persons aware of the question, similar proposals from Washington were presented to the Ukrainian side during a meeting in Paris last week. The publication, citing sources, reports that the proposal voiced in Paris was the result of a visit by a special representative of Donald Trump Steve Witcoff to Moscow. Then he had a few hours with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to one of the insiders, the idea is that the United States call Crimea Russian, "not forcing Ukraine to recognize it.
" We will remind, Steve Witkoff earlier explained that in the Russian Federation he spoke not about a truce or ceasefire, but about the achievement of a long peace. The possible agreement applies to five regions of Ukraine and the fifth NATO article. Later, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the statement. He noted that this issue is not within the competence of Steve Witcoff.
