The capture of Avdiivka showed what weapons needed by the Armed Forces - Welt

For successful defense of Ukraine, it is necessary to produce twice as many ammunition than it is now - from 4,000 shells per day, 124,000 per month and almost 1. 5 million a year. The advantage of the Russian army in living power is not the main reason for the removal of the Armed Forces from Avdiivka. This is what Alfred Hakensberger, a German Welt correspondent.

First of all, the key factor in the capture of the Russians Avdiivka, he called the overwhelming amount of artillery in the Russian Federation, which could not be achieved without delayed supplies of Western assistance of the Armed Forces. The second decisive factor, emphasized by the Columbarist, is Russian aviation, which almost freely dumped airbots on this area of the front in countless quantities.

The advantage of the army of the aggressor in human resources, which, according to some reports, was 7: 1, did not play the role in the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops. At the same time, this was done to avoid the surroundings of the Armed Forces and maintain the lives and health of the fighters. It was for the cover of the retreat of the Ukrainian forces of defense to this section of the front that, according to Hakensberger, an experienced 3rd assault brigade of the Armed Forces was transferred.

However, according to the German journalist, there were no signs of ordered departure - the Armed Forces soldiers had to evacuate in the dark and literally under the hail of Russian shells. "It was very difficult. A very difficult situation," said Sergei Teshotsky, a pressecretic of the 59th Mechanized Brigade. According to Teshotsky, Russia has a new type of drone that can dump bombs and at night.

However, he calls the largest problem Russian air strikes, which were driven by air -weighing 250 or even 500 kilograms. On some days, Russia, according to some reports, dropped up to 80 such bombs over Avdiivka. "Fighters throw bombs from a distance of 8-10 kilometers behind the front line, and this reduces the reaction time so much that you can do little," the speaker notes. The so -called "blunt bombs", he said, can fly to the target at low altitude and therefore often go unnoticed.

The destruction of them were terrible. Therefore, as the journalist emphasizes, the situation in Ukrainian trenches in the long run has become unbearable. The problem of air strikes, with which the Ukrainian command could not cope with, was intensified by the advantage of Russian artillery. Thus, on February 16, the defense force was recorded in Avdiivka in total 150 shelling by Russian shells.

According to official data of the Ukrainian command, the Armed Forces do not have such resources to hold their positions. "The lack of ammunition emerged after a new 60-billion US security package from the United States for 2024 has been laid and postponed," Hackensberger emphasizes. He added that the European Union lags behind the schedule with the promised supply of ammunition to a million units.

"According to the statistics of the Royal Institute of Joint Services (Rusi), the number of shots of Ukrainian artillery decreased to 2,000 per day, while the Russian invasion forces doubled their indicators to 10,000 shots," the columnist quotes. In the summer of 2023 the situation was different. Then, according to Rusi, Ukraine had an advantage over Russia, producing only 5,000 shells a day, and Russia - up to 7 500 shells.

The famine of the artillery shells is confirmed by Mykola Belesko from the organization Come Back alive. He is convinced that the loss of Avdiivka is the result of lack of deliveries from the event. "If you do not have enough ammunition to restrain the Russians and put pressure, then the consequences are obvious," the journalist says. According to Bellesco, Ukraine will have to release twice as much ammunition than now, ie from 4,000 shells a day, 124,000 per month and almost 1. 5 million a year.

According to Hakensberger, Russian propagandists on many channels immediately began to transmit triumphant reports about victory and show the staff on which the soldiers raise the Russian flag in the "Zenith" quarter of Avdiivka. "However, the high price that Moscow had to pay for this alleged" great victory "was mentioned anywhere, - the journalist said.

According to the confirmed data, only since January 1, the Russian army lost more than 20,000 soldiers, 199 tanks and 481 a fighting car under Avdiivka. The National Center for Resistance to Ukraine reported that because of the large number of victims, the Russian army was forced to use abandoned schools as morgues for their soldiers.

In general, the aggressors had to walk through the bodies of their fallen soldiers, "laying fields and roads during their attacks" The publication states that the front will not collapse unconditionally and Avdiivka will not become a Russian breakthrough, "but then it will be difficult to hold back the Russians. " The Armed Forces stated that they check the circumstances of the death of Ukrainian prisoners of war, who remained in the position of "Zenit" in Avdiivka.
