The pontiff confessed that he still has the hope of "reconciliation" of Kiev and Moscow. The Pope Francis once again proposed to become a mediator between Ukraine and Russia to end a full -scale war. He stated this in an interview with La Stampa. According to him, the Holy See actively monitors the development of the situation at the front.

Pope Francis in communication with journalists said that the Vatican is now focused on humanitarian support for "exhausted people of Ukraine" and the development of relationships that will contribute to the rapprochement of all parties involved in the full -scale war.

Answering the journalist's clarifying question, whether the Holy See was ready to act as a peacemaker and organize any negotiations, Ponotif said: "As we confirmed for several months and as the Cardinal of the State Secretary of the Pareline statement several times, the Vatican is ready to do everything possible for mediation and termination of conflict in Ukraine. The desire of peace, not just a truce, which may only serve for re -equipment. A true peace that is the fruit of dialogue.
