The Navy Command on January 8 announced a plans to conclude a contract with Lockheed Martin to integrate the C-1 LRASM missile for F-15E and EXMs to prepare for confrontation with Chinese ships. According to the War Zone, these missiles with a range of approximately 320-480 km, are already used with B-1 bombers and deck F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, and also undergo integration on P-8 POSEIDON and F- F- 35.
However, for F-15E and ex LRASM integration will be an important step, as they only use only limited possibilities to defeat marine goals. AgM-158C anti-ship missiles have low radar visibility and have a built-in route planning system with the possibility of evading threats and responding to changes in the combat situation.
There is also a function of the so -called multi -sensory guidance, that is, a passive infrared sensor and a radio frequency complex for accurate determination and damage to the goals. In this case, the rocket can exchange data with other LRASM and receive real -time information. The possible solution of the American command is due to the fact that the F-15E and F-15Ex have a considerable load capacity, which allows to carry a large amount of LRASM.
The tests have shown that these machines are able to carry up to five AGM-158 Jassm missiles, based on LRASM. In addition, both fighter models have a larger combat radius due to the increased amount of fuel in conformal and internal tanks, which makes them effective for operations in the Pacific Ocean, including areas of possible confrontation with China.
