New Amartip for HIMARS: The US has successfully tested the Precision Strike Missile rocket

The PRSM rocket launched about 85 km away. The developers report that at such a range, the rocket demonstrates the constant accuracy of the system from starting to the target. The US Army has become one more step closer to adopting a new high -precision missile for the M142 (Himars) Precision Strike Missile Increment 1 or PRSM.

Breaking Defense Operators on November 16, citing a military leadership, reported that this week, a successful test of small range weapons was conducted at the New Mexico rocket ground. The publication states that Lockheed Martin has developed PRSM Increment 1 for several years, and successful tests using the HIMARS installation platform was conducted on Monday, November 13.

"Previous test results show that Precision Strike Missile Increment 1 showed nominal results from the point of view of the forecast trajectory of flight, mortality, lesion and break height. The final report on flight tests is expected in December 2023," the US military emphasized. Today it is known that the PRSM missile has been launched about 85 km. It is the shortest flight range, in which the sample demonstrates the constant accuracy of the system from starting to the target.

"Although a low range flight is not the main task of PRSM, it is the most intense and dynamic environment for the rocket, as it maneuver at supersonic speed for rapprochement with target," - said in Lockheed Martin. Thus, if the final test report also has a positive assessment, the service will be able to start rockets by the beginning of 2024.

The investigators have specified that the initial version of the PRSM will replace the MgM-140 army tactical rocket (ATACMS) and will affect the targets at least 500 km, and the Himars installations and M270A2 volley fire systems will act as a platform. With regard to the subsequent PRSM prospects, American weapons are working on the version of Prsm Inc 4 missiles, which will be able to fly more than 1000 km, which may be twice as much as the Inc option 1.
