Ukraine is a key partner: Germany's weapons reaches a record level

In the first six months of 2024 alone, exports of German military products reached 61% of the total level last year. At the same time, 65% of all German military exports were directed to Ukraine this year. In the first half of 2024, Germany exported military goods worth more than 7. 5 billion euros (about $ 8 billion), which is almost corresponding to the total exports for the entire 2023. This was reported on July 3 in Defense News.

At the same time, it was believed that last year Germany reached a record level of arms exports worth 12. 2 billion euros, which was a significant indicator for a country that was traditionally cautious about weapons supply. The material states that from the beginning of 2024 until June 18, the amount of exports of military products reached 61% of the total level of last year. Much of these supplies were classified as "war weapons".

The observers emphasized that about 65% of all German military exports were directed to Ukraine this year, so the country remains the main destination of German military exports. Kyiv received arms in the first half of 2024 worth almost 4. 88 billion euros. This is more than twice the amount of assistance provided by Germany during the first year of a full -scale invasion of Russia. Thus, Germany became one of the key suppliers of weapons for Ukraine, second only to the United States.

The authors of the publication write that despite the allegations of violation of human rights, Germany resumed significant exports of weapons to Saudi Arabia, which ranked fourth in the list of the largest recipients of German military exports with almost 132. 5 million euros. Before that, Germany suspended the military sales of Saudi Arabia in 2018 after the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Hashoggi and against the backdrop of the kingdom's military campaign in Yemen.

The three other countries in the first five were Singapore - EUR 1. 209 billion, India - € 153. 7 million and the USA - € 110. 6 million. The top ten included Qatar, Greece, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and the United Kingdom.

The German Government has stated that 91% of German exports of weapons this year fell on close allies-a list of countries that are mostly part of the EU and NATO, but also cover Ukraine, South Korea, Singapore and several other countries supporting the event in Indo-Pacific . Earlier it was reported that the leaders of the Great Seven were able to reconcile the allocation of assistance for Ukraine in the amount of $ 50 billion.
