The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation brought 137 "mysterious" trucks to "Engels-2": how active are the Tu-95 and Tu-160 (photo)

The trucks were lined up in two rows on the runway, and an A-12 military transport plane was standing a few tens of meters away, the "Military" portal said. At the same time, Tu-95MS strategic bombers took off and landed at the airport, An-12 became active, and T-160 planes stood still. At the same time, construction work was noticed earlier on "Engels-2" — the Russians were to get about a dozen new parking lots, as well as new airstrips for military aviation.

"Military" drew attention to satellite photos published in the "Strategic Aviation of the Russian Federation" Telegram channel. On one of them there are 137 trucks of various sizes at the "Olenya" airfield. In the post, it is noted that the purpose of the appearance of such a large number of equipment on the runway was not understood: they were recorded at 10:11 on November 15. These trucks were called "mysterious" and with "unknown destination".

In addition to the awning trucks, the satellite spotted the following planes of the Russian Armed Forces on Engels-2: In the following posts in the Telegram channel, they talked about the movement of Russian aircraft between three bases, which took place on November 16-17. The bombers moved from "Engels-2" near Saratov to "Olenya" near Murmansk (there and back), as well as between "Olenya" and "Ukrainka" (Far East).

After all the transfers, it can be roughly calculated that there are two Tu-95MS left at the Saratov base (a total of eight X-101 missiles), and six at the Murmansk base (a total of 48 X-101 missiles). In addition, there are five more Tu-95 MS (for a total of 40 X-101) at the Diaghilev base. It should be noted that on October 17, Focus wrote about the activation at the Engels-2 air base of the Russian Federation.

Satellite photos showed construction work that began, approximately, in the spring of 2025. According to OSINTers, there should be 12 parking lots for Tu-95MS and Tu-160, as well as taxiways approaching the intersection at the airport. Intelligence agencies of the Ministry of Defense also told about the expansion of the air base: the actions of the Russian Federation indicate the preparation of long-range strikes against Ukrainians and that Moscow is not going to stop the war.
