Are suspected of cybercriminals: 11 Russians were hit by US and UK sanctions

According to Washington and London, TrickBot HackerBot members may be associated with Russian power structures. Eleven Russian citizens, suspected of cybercriminals against the US authorities, social facilities and critical infrastructure, are listed in the US and UK's sanction list. The relevant information is posted on official government sites of the two countries, Radio Liberty reports.

According to the report, personal sanctions were imposed on Maxim Glochkin, Mikhail Chernov, Maxim Khalilin, Artem Kurov, Sergey Loguntsov, Alexander Mozhayev, Dmitry Putin, Maxim Rudensky, Mikhail Tsarev, Vadim Valihakametov and Andriy Zhukov. Along with the names of most of them are aliases, under which they are known on the Internet. Earlier, the American magazine Wired earlier called Galkochin the leader of the Hacker group of TrickBot, reminiscent of Radio Liberty.

The main activity of hackers was the development of computer viruses that require the victims of money. Wired suggested that the grouping can consist of several hundred hackers, in particular related to Russian power structures. According to Radio Liberty, the British government in a statement of sanctions states that all 11 Russians are members of TrickBot.

Hackers attacked local government networks, healthcare facilities and critical infrastructure facilities, threatened with opponents of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to US and UK authorities, Russian hackers have been operating since 2016 and have been able to seize $ 180 million in their victims around the world, Radio Svoboda reports. As it is noted, in February, Washington and London had already imposed sanctions against seven probable TrickBot members.

Among them were six Russians and one Ukrainian. Their introduction into the sanction list was argued by the fact that the actions of the hackers "coincided with the goals of Russian intelligence". Recall that previously related hackers attacked the Database of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.
