The statement of the Armed Forces General on Monday, February 6 was published in the Press Center for Forces of Defense and Security of Ukraine. According to the commander of the Land Forces, the Bakhmut district and the city itself were prepared for defense in time. Plus, the area itself has embossed features: the city is surrounded by heights and hills that create a natural obstacle to the opponent.
"A thoughtful system of engineering barriers, combined with a natural landscape, turned the area into a true impregnable fortress, at the walls of which not one thousand enemies found death," Sirsky said. According to the General of the Armed Forces, the military uses both engineering and natural opportunities to destroy the "best units of the enemy".
According to the UK Ministry of Defense Military Intelligence, as of February 5, Russian troops continued to succeed in trying to surround Bakhmut of Donetsk region. According to the British military, the two major roads of M03 and H32, which lead to the settlement, were threatened by direct shelling of the Russians. Also, according to the British Ministry of Defense, the Wagner PVC units have previously captured the route that connects Bakhmut with the city of Siversk.
