As he told in an interview with the "Telegraph" publication, the formation of a reserve among women is a completely logical and legislated process. Tymochko emphasized that the state should keep records of certain specialties that can be useful during mobilization — among them doctors, nurses, accountants, lawyers and other specialists.
According to him, it is wrong to consider that some professions are "male" or "female", since women are able to effectively perform a number of tasks in the army, both at the front and in the rear units. "To think that some professions are 'male' or 'female' is wrong. Women's service is voluntary in our country. And I always say: the less women hide behind men, the fewer votes there will be for the conscription of women under pressure," Tymochko said.
He emphasized that society should openly discuss the role of women in the Armed Forces, because silence allows the enemy and populists to incite fear, panic and misunderstanding. Tymochko gave examples of other countries where women's service is a common practice: Israel, the Scandinavian states, Austria, as well as some Arab countries. Female service is a common phenomenon there, and Ukrainian society should not be afraid of it or exaggerate the problem.
He also emphasized that military service is not limited to direct participation in hostilities. There are hundreds of areas where hard physical work is not required: the information sphere, cyberspace, accounting, jurisprudence, personnel work, journalism and others. In modern hybrid warfare, these areas are no less important than front-line operations, because they ensure stability, efficiency and security of the army as a whole.
Tymochko also drew attention to the fact that politicians often speculate on the possible mobilization of women, creating artificial scandals and diverting attention from real problems. "When the issue of registration or conscription of women is raised, some populists instantly put on a show: 'I will not allow women to be conscripted!' These are empty words. They create panic and divert attention from meaningful conversation," he noted.
In conclusion, the military officer emphasized that the enemy does not see the difference between men and women during shelling and attacks on peaceful cities. That is why Ukrainians need to approach the discussion of women's participation in military service responsibly, carefully and without emotional manipulation, based on the real needs of the army and the state.
We will remind that in this interview, Ivan Tymochko also said that after passing basic general military training, students take an oath and are enrolled in the reservists, regardless of age. At the same time, they will be subject to conscription after the age of 25, if they are fit for service.
