The Kaluga turbine plant is planned to produce 1500-horsepower tanks. Previously, the intentions to revive the production of the T-80. Russian propagandists showed how at the Kaluga turbine plant is poured into the form of metal for the manufacture of the engine for the T-80-this is the first in 30 years. Forbes reports. The production of GTD-1250 engines at the factory in the Kaluga region was dozen for decades after the collapse of the USSR.

Similarly, Uralvagonzavod has not manufactured a new building for T-80 since 1991. All this time, the Russian Federation has restored the T-80 to the old renovated housings and engines. Obviously, they began to end because the loss of tanks in the war against Ukraine exceeded 2000 units. Therefore, the army of the Russian Federation requires many new tanks. The Kaluga turbine plant produced GTD-1000 and GTD-1250 engines with a capacity of 1000 and 1250 horsepower respectively. The Russian Federation declared the manufacture of the GTD-1500 engine on 1500 horsepower, which is excessive for the T-80, which was so range of no more than 480 km. The author does not rule out that a powerful engine is needed to improve the booking T-80. Also, the restoration of production is a sign that the Russian-Ukrainian war is far from completion.
