No analogues: The Ministry of Defense showed how evacuation medical cars look for the Armed Forces (photo)

The department said that the equipment of these wagons is the same as in a real hospital, which makes it possible even surgery while traveling the train in the most critical cases. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine demonstrated railway evacuation medical cars that "became an important element" to assist the wounded servicemen. This was reported in the press service of the department.

According to Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova, coordination and logistics play a major role in military medicine during the war. Therefore, this is why evacuation medical and resuscitation wagons have become key in providing timely assistance to wounded or injured soldiers. In addition, the chairman of the board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Yevgeny Lyashchenko noted that the first medical wagon, which "has no analogues in the world" was created in early March 2022.

He added that there were no drawings and technical documentation at the time, but there was a great need for such cars. According to him, railways and doctors managed to convert the first such wagon in just four days. Today, however, the total number of wagons involved in medical evacuation in Ukraine is 62. The Defense Ministry said that the equipment of medical cars is identical to the equipment of a real hospital, which allows to provide emergency medical care directly during movement.

"Therefore, these wagons can transport seriously wounded servicemen who cannot be transported by other modes of transport," the press service assures. In addition, anesthesiologists, nurses, medical violets, paramedics and evacuation crews of railways work in the cars. "Medical equipment on board the train makes it possible even surgery while traveling the train in the most critical cases," the message reads.

Viceremier-Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov stressed that there are prospects for the number of medical cars not only from the front to the rear hospitals. "We are technically ready to launch cars to and across the border for the treatment and rehabilitation of our soldiers. We work with partners on implementation," he commented.
