Grain Agreement will act contrary to Russia's threats - UN

Moscow declares the desire to control the passage of ships through the grain corridor. UN inspectors, together with Turkey, are preparing to intercept this initiative. The United Nations (UN) considers the grain agreement in force, despite the threats of Russia. The Deputy Secretary General of the Organization for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said this at a briefing after the UN Security Council meeting.

"We firmly believe that the Black Sea grain initiative remains valid, despite the suspension of Russia's participation in it," he said. UN inspectors will check vessels that carry grain from Ukrainian ports. Griffiths emphasized that Moscow did not stop and did not leave the grain agreement, but only suspended participation in it indefinitely. "As a result, we continue to send vessels moving from Ukraine through this initiative.

Together with Turkey, where possible, we will check these vessels with Ukraine," the UN Secretary General General. The UN will interact with the Russians as intermediaries and resolve the issues raised. "The sooner we can fully restore Russia's participation, the better," Griffiths summarized. Recall that the Russian Federation is not going to execute the passage of ships through the grain corridor and considers the Black Sea in the war zone.
