The Russian FSB reported on the alleged successful prevention of an operation during which the stolen fighter jet was "planned to be sent to a NATO base. " This was reported by the Russian publication "Izvestia" in the morning of November 11. The FSB reported that Ukrainian intelligence officers "tried to recruit Russian pilots" to assist in the hijacking of the MiG-31. The Ukrainian side allegedly promised them a monetary reward of 3 million dollars in return, the Russians claim.
"According to the intelligence services, the foreign party intended to use this incident as a large-scale provocation against Russia," the message reads. The Russians also write that Ukrainian intelligence allegedly intended to send the stolen plane to the area of the NATO military base located in the Romanian port city of Constanta.
According to the Russian media "TASS", the FSB announced that the operation was allegedly planned by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. British intelligence allegedly acted as the curator in this action. The Russian side is currently not revealing what kind of provocation the Ukrainian and British special services were supposed to arrange together.
At the time of publication, neither the Ukrainian nor the British side commented on the statements of the Russian FSB. It is worth recalling that the MiG-31K is a long-range Soviet high-altitude fighter-interceptor, which the Russians use for attacks on Ukraine. The fighter is a carrier of a hypersonic missile of the Kh-47M "Kinzhal" type. This is not the first time that the Russians have accused Ukraine and Western intelligence services of planning "provocations" against the Kremlin.
Earlier, in September, propagandists of the Russian Federation together with the Hungarian side put forward a "warning" that Ukraine is allegedly preparing operations "under a foreign flag", trying in this way to "draw NATO into the Russian-Ukrainian war", the "Military" publication wrote. At the time, the Russian Federation claimed that the Ukrainian special services allegedly planned to launch repaired Russian drones at targets in Poland and Romania.
Also in April of this year, the Russians staged a provocation in Donetsk, informing about the attack, in order to create the image of Vladimir Putin as a peacemaker, the CPD reported. We will remind you that on November 6, Russia accused the West of preparing a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant: the Central Security Service reacted.
