Changed the position: Ambassadors of the Russian Federation and Belarus will be invited to award the Nobel Prize

According to the Nobel Committee, the Foundation has abandoned the practice of the previous year. At that time, he did not invite representatives of the embassies of Russia and Belarus to give the awards in Stockholm because of the Russian full -scale invasion of Ukraine. This year, the Nobel Foundation plans to invite to its traditional banquet, which is organized in honor of the awarding, diplomats of all countries with accreditation in Sweden, including Russia and Belarus.

In the previous year, these countries were not invited due to events related to a full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. This was stated in the Nobel Committee. "From now on . . . Ambassadors of all countries with diplomatic missions in Sweden and Norway, respectively, will be invited at the award ceremony," the statement said. This year, the Nobel Fund has decided to change its position and abandoned the practice applied in the previous year.

At that time, the organization did not invite representatives of the embassies of Russia and Belarus to the ceremony of awarding in Stockholm, due to the full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. "The Nobel Foundation believes that such a common approach contributes to the opportunity to convey the important messages of the Nobel Prize to everyone, and in the future this practice will become common to the whole organization," the committee added.

Of the six Nobel Prizes, five are awarded annually in Stockholm. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Oslo, where separate celebrations are held. This year's laureates will be announced in early October, and the festive awards ceremonies will take place on December 10 - on the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. We will remind, on January 31, 2023 information that the first country of Europe refused to speak with the Russians and Belarusians at the Olympic Games 2024.

In Latvia, the International Sports Federations were called to support the removal of athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus from participation in the Olympic Games. In March, the International Olympic Committee suggested that only those athletes who do not support the war in Ukraine and are not servicemen performed at sports competitions from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
