The Embassy of Ukraine has already appealed to the organizers of the event to understand the situation and restore justice. At the Russian Cinema Festival in Paris and Taverna, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, filmed by director Sergei Paradzhanov, will be shown as part of the program as a work of "Russian culture". Considering this situation, the Embassy of Ukraine in France called for representatives of the competent authorities to take appropriate measures that would help restore justice. Ukrainian diplomats stressed that culture continues in a cynical way to use as an element of legitimizing Russia's aggression. It is no secret that for many years this festival of "Russian film" was supported by the Russian authorities.

Thus, they claim in the embassy, ​​despite the formal change by the organizers of the accents, much of their methods remains unchanged. It should be noted that the cult film Sergey Paradzhanov became part of the Russian Cinema Festival Program, organized by the Other Russia Association. We are talking about the tenth event of this type, and this year he was devoted to the memory of the oppositionist Alexei Navalny.

The text of the invitations of the Russians to the festival states that in their opinion, despite all violence on the part of the current political leadership, it is necessary to direct every effort to protect and promote Russian culture, including in the field of cinema. It should be noted that the filming of Sergei Paradzhanov's "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" took place at the Alexander Dovzhenko Film Studio in 1964.
