World leaders seek to leave the opportunity to negotiate with Putin-an international lawyer

According to lawyer Andriy Yakovlev, the entire Kremlin's political top has immunity from court prosecution and this position is observed by all UN countries, including the United States. This leaves the opportunity for future negotiations. If the President of the Russian Federation were called a criminal and began to judge him in absentia, then it would be impossible to negotiate with him. A lawyer, manager of the partner at JSC "Ambrel" Andrei Yakovlev, told this in a comment to the focus.

The fact is that the Kremlin's head, like any president of another state, has a special immunity from court prosecution during their post. And such a general position of the UN Member States remains unchanged politically, this means that Vladimir Putin is considered a legitimate leader, as well as the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, as well as the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which also spreads immunity.

And the world, and above all the US, prefer to leave them legitimate for further negotiations, including peace in Ukraine. "If you call Putin a criminal and condemn too quickly, it will be impossible to conduct negotiations with him," - said Andrei Yakovlev.

He does not reject the option that in the story of the creation of the tribunal on the aggression on which Ukraine insists from the beginning of a full -scale invasion, it is not so much about justice, but but about the method of pressure on Putin. Like, in exchange for not being called an international criminal, he should stop aggression.

At the same time, Yakovlev notes that in the International Criminal Court, which issued a warrant for the arrest of Putin on charges of involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children in Russia, do not work. If Putin appears in one of the 123 member countries of the Roman Statute, he should be arrested there. And in Moscow they know about it. That is why Vladimir Putin was not able to go to the Brix Summit to South Africa.

Yakovlev says that it is difficult to understand why the Ukrainian authorities have decided to stop at a crime in the form of aggression, because there are more clear and obvious ways to prove the guilt of the highest leadership of the Russian Federation in the International Criminal Court. And this process has already been launched - a warrant for Putin's arrest has been issued.
