US persuades Turkey not to support Russia in the bypass of sanctions - wsj

According to the newspaper, the White House tries to ensure that Ankara is respected by the restrictions imposed against the Russian Federation, but at the same time avoid the need to introduce such against Turkey. The authorities of the United States of America are active in dialogue with Turkey to prevent Russia's assistance in bypassing international sanctions. On August 18, the American edition of The Wall Street Journal writes with reference to its sources.

According to journalists, in this context, the United States seeks to achieve Turkey's restrictions on Russia, but at the same time avoid imposing sanctions against Turkey. One of the Western diplomats who had a conversation with the publication stressed that the United States is constantly supporting a dialogue with the Turkish government on this issue. He noted that US authorities are negotiating with the public sector and with representatives of private companies in Turkey.

"We make every effort to avoid a scenario in which Turkish companies are sanctioned. We actively cooperate with both government and private structures to inform them of real risks," the interlocutor said. Recall that on August 8, Reuters wrote that Russia is creating a shadow fleet for grain exports, relying on old grain trucks, which are mostly owned by shipowners from Turkey and China.
