"EU will not replace Ukraine's assistance from the United States": Oleg Posternak told about the risks of a long war

The war in Ukraine may be long -lasting and will not end in the next couple of years, so Western partners should prepare for the further support of Kiev in the fight against the Russian aggressor. However, according to political scientist Oleg Posternak, assistance depends on power in a particular country. On Monday, September 16, the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Ruben Breccelmans stated that the war would not end even in 2025.

In this regard, you need to look at the long run and continue to assist Ukraine. For more information on how the support of the Allies can change, read the focus "War will not end in 2025: whether partners will endure further support of Ukraine in the war with the Russian Federation". With all EU readiness, it will not be able to replace the US assistance.

Political scientist Oleg Posternak in conversation with focus reported that it is difficult to make an inventory of resources, the potential capacity of EU countries to continue to help Kiev. According to him, even if there is a financial and military resource, the latter technically has the question of whether it is enough. Military production is launched, but not to the extent that you would like to define the EU countries.

Posternak noted that the provision of assistance is influenced by the authorities in a particular state. Tomorrow, a new President of Romania may appear, which will change the attitude towards Ukraine, while the day after tomorrow in Bulgaria, the pro -Russian party may become a member of the coalition. However, now the Netherlands has shown the best option when the entry of the "Freedom Party" with anti -Ukrainian orientation did not lead to the curtailment of assistance.

In the Netherlands, the influence of one of the coalition parties was leveled. "Where is the guarantee that it will be in other countries? We need to prepare for the fact that the European Union will not be able to replace American assistance, despite even the decisions made on the confiscation of frozen Russian assets," Oleg Posternak said. We will remind, the Netherlands allowed Ukraine to beat their weapons on the deep rear of Russia.
