"Knife in the Back": Hungary took out "ethnic Hungarians" from the Russian Federation to discredit Ukraine - the media

According to diplomatic sources, only one of the prisoners transported from Russia is a citizen of Hungary, but they were intimidated by the court for desertion and persuaded to stay abroad. The Hungarian government cooperated with the Russian Federation for the transportation of eleven captured Ukrainian fighters. This is stated in The Kyiv Independent, published on August 1.

With reference to an unnamed source in the publication reported that the prisoners were sent to the territory of Hungary through Turkey, as all airplaces between the aggressor country and the European Union were stopped. It is unknown whether they stayed in Turkey for some time. "It is difficult to imagine that the leadership of the country is not aware of this operation.

We were sure that they knew about it, and this work was allowed at the highest level," - said Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Dmitry Tuzhansky, the director of the Central European Strategy Institute, was convinced that the transportation of prisoners was agreed with Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Media sources said that the main purpose of the secret operation was the public discrediting of Ukraine.

The organizers of transportation of fighters sought to create the image of "ethnic Hungarian soldiers" who are forced to fight. According to the media, despite the Hungarian sound, only one of the prisoners speak Hungarian and is a citizen of Hungary, all others - members of the Rusyn community who speak the dialect of the Ukrainian language.

"We are worried that we do not hear these people, that it is these people who do not express their position," - said Alexander Kononenko, a representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the System of Security Sector. Diplomatic sources reported that the Hungarian side tried to convince prisoners of Ukrainians that in the event of their return to their homeland, they would be returned to the front or judged as deserters.

The unnamed interlocutor of the publication said that the soldiers were even pressed for them to take Hungarian citizenship. The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Hungary, against the background of EU efforts to isolation of the Russian Federation, on the contrary, develops cooperation with the aggressor country. "Now Russia is trying to break Ukraine into pieces. So hit a knife in the back of Ukraine in the most difficult period of its history is the worst that a foreign government can do.

But worse if it is done by a neighbor," Nikolenko said. We will remind, on June 9 it became known that Hungary was handed over 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war. The media reported that the Viceremier of the country in church affairs of Zholt Shemien allegedly agreed with the ROC, and in the government was not known about the operation. According to unnamed sources "RBC-Ukraine", the ROC is already discussing the visit of Hungarian officials on August 8-11.
