The author of the report, William Alberk, pointed out that Moscow "restrained" reacted to Finland's accession to NATO. In his opinion, this indicates that the Russian Federation does not need to fundamentally change their position on strategic nuclear weapons in the Scandinavian region because of the expected threat associated with the expansion of the Alliance.
At the same time, the analyst pointed to changes in the position of the Russian Federation on NSAO, mentioning the deployment of Russian weapons in Belarus. "Russia probably does not consider the American arsenal NSDAO a serious threat," the publication reads. The analyst believes that Russia's idea that the West has no "convincing will" to the use of nuclear weapons and is not ready to put up with potential victims, strengthens "aggressive thinking and doctrine of Russia in the field of NSAZ.
" Alberc believes that Moscow may be concerned about Washington's return to a stronger position on NSIAO. However, in his opinion, Russians can expect that they will be able to notice and respond to such a scenario in a timely manner, since such decisions are made for a long time in the West and the relevant procedures are transparent.
