Before sending to Estonia: British fighters mistakenly attacked their Challenger 2 tank - the media

To spread: British servicemen during the Warrior Infantry Fighting vehicles mistakenly shot the Challenger 2 tank. The soldiers perceived him as a hostile target and fired six shots from a 30-mm gun. The Challenger 2 incident occurred on the evening of September 18 during joint exercises of the royal Welsh Regiment with the Royal Tank Regiment at the Kaslmartin landfill in Pembrombruchir, writes The Sun.

They were preparing to depart to Estonia to protect the eastern border of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) from the Russian threat. Five shells of six released from the Warrior BMP gun were hit by Challenger 2 but bounced from his armor. According to the UK Ministry of Defense, none of the four tank crew members were injured. According to journalists, the BMP crew noticed Challenger 2 through the thermal imager at a distance of about 500 meters and perceived it for the "enemy" tank.

Then the military carried out a volley: the fire was fired in fully automatic mode, and both three -charged gun stores were devastated. The Ministry of Defense reported that the gun was charged with inert training shells, rather than pugsa armor -piercing, which is used in a real battle. The department assures that no vehicle was injured, and the fired challenger 2 has already returned to training.
