Nadiya Operation: As Trump settled in Ukrainian society a false faith in the fast end of the war

We spoke an hour and a half, and I was going back to the opinion that to complete the war at the meeting with Putin, our president now, of course, can, but only in one way - to sign a package of surrender. But my interlocutor with the same perseverance asked me about Putin's weaknesses, and how they can be manipulated, and what kind of tricks can be used by Zelensky to achieve something.

And, to be honest, I was tensed from how deeply this person has hoped that the world is near, two to three weeks at a maximum. If this hope is massive (although we do not see it yet, but the public opinion is plastic), then we are in a psychologically extremely dangerous situation. It is no accident that they talked again about the paradox of Stockdale: in a critical situation with an indefinite result, the optimists die first.

Once in the "horror without end", some people support themselves with the idea that everything is about to end. There are no other ways of self -support and self -discipline. And when nothing ends at the time, these people lose everything that somehow kept them afloat. And they sink.

Trump put a giant pig to the Ukrainian people - and not because he stopped the supply of weapons and applauded Putin (with this we can quite cope), but because he has inspired the Ukrainians to hope that everything can end "self", on the negotiations of the great uncles. The worst part is that the idea of ​​the possible end of the war through negotiations now remains the only scenario that is being discussed. There is simply no others. There is only this - unrealistic and quite ugly.

But it is easy to think about him, and it is easy to hope for him. And when this scenario is guaranteed (almost) to fail, we will find ourselves in the situation of the Frankish feverish dreamer. None of the Putin special operations aimed at undermining Ukrainian society from the inside, has been successful enough to critically weaken our will to resist. The Trump Operation "Hope" can in this sense be much more effective, more dangerous and devastating for us.

This does not mean, of course, everyone needs to plunge into hopelessness. Rather, on the contrary. A sense of self -respect and respect for those nearby, for all of us who continue our resistance, even in the darkest and most hopeless times, gives us the full right to hope that we will stand.
