President: The UN should press on Russia to stop war and prevent disaster

The United Nations should be pressed effectively on Russia to stop the war and stop the arms race, which poses the world to the risk of catastrophe. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the general debate of the UN General Assembly in New York. He stressed that in the modern world, the security of the state can guarantee strong alliances, strong partners and their own weapons. “No Ukrainian would choose such a reality.

And, knowing our people, they would choose another priority. Ukrainians are a peaceful people. But it is a people who want to live - to live freely - in their independent country. That is why we invest in defense. Many nations simply have no other choice, ”the head of state said. The President noted that at a time when international institutions are demonstrating weakness, Russia continues an aggressive war against Ukraine and tries to destabilize the situation in European countries.

“Peoples can talk about their pain from such stands, but even during bloodshed, no international institution can truly stop it-these institutions have become so weak. What can be expected from the UN and the Global System Sudan, Somalia, Palestine, or other peoples passing through the war? For decades, there are only statements. And even what is happening in the gas remains without exit, ”Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The head of state emphasized that in the world there is a devastating arms race with the use of artificial intelligence, which creates a danger to all humanity. “We need global rules - now - about the use of AI in service. This is as urgent as preventing the spread of nuclear weapons. We need to restore international cooperation - real, effective cooperation - for peace and security, ”said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President noted that Ukraine produces drones that can fly at a distance of 2-3 thousand kilometers and help carry out important land and maritime operations. Ukraine has no other choice than to create them to protect their right to life. “Our web operation, when cheap drones have destroyed and damaged dozens of expensive Russian strategic bombers, has become a real example for special services around the world that can make a new weapon with old systems.

It was these Russian bombers that attacked our cities, ”he said. The head of state noted that every year of war weapons are becoming more deadly, and Russia should be responsible for its aggressive actions. According to Vladimir Zelensky, Ukraine spends considerable funds on the construction of shelters and protection of infrastructure from Russian blows.

The President is convinced that stopping Russia with joint efforts today is much cheaper than expected as long as the arms race will end with a nuclear disaster. “Stop Putin is now cheaper than trying to protect every port and every vessel in the oceans from terrorists with sea drones. It is cheaper to stop Russia now than to guess who will first create a simple drone capable of carrying a nuclear charge, ”the head of state added.

The President stressed that it is important to make every effort to make the aggressor stop, and then there will be a chance to avoid a worldwide disaster. “If this requires a weapon, if this requires pressure on Russia, then it must be done. And it must be done now, ”said Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The head of state noted that Ukraine, together with partners within the coalition, creates a new security architecture.

"We strengthen the army, launch weapons in common with partners, define financial obligations to defense-in a way that can become a security model for any other country," he added. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine exports weapons, plans to develop defensive cooperation with partners and share the real experience of using technologies. The President called on the United Nations to condemn Russia's aggression, protect life and international law.
